- 1. What is the best way to price my items?
Sellers earn 2/3 of the selling price of the item. A good rule of thumb is to ask about a 1/3 of what you paid for it, if it is in immaculate condition and a name brand you can price it a little more. We are not a garage sale; so don't sell yourself short by asking garage sale prices. However, we are not a major department store, so don't price yourself out of a sale.
- 2. Why do you only accept metal hangers? My baby clothes do not fit.
Plastic hangers tend to break after being shifted on the racks, and plastic coated do not move at all on the racks. If you would unsnap the infant's garment and put the hanger through the bottom, you will have no problem hanging your item. Please don't bend the hangers. Your local cleaners are a good place to find wire hangers. Kid's Market and Mom will have metal hangers and safety pins for sale at appointment receiving and regular receiving. Please do not use the hangers with the cardboard centers.
- 3. How do I package shoes?
You can package shoes in zip-loc bags that your shoes will fit in. Also you need to zip tie your shoes before putting in the bag. You then should put a piece of masking tape on each shoe with your code number. In the bag you put your barcode tag with the description of the shoes.
- 4. Why can I only bring ten pairs of shoes?
Due to the number of contributors, we can only accept 10 of your best pair.
- 5. Why can I not bring stuffed animals?
Stuffed animals come in all shapes and sizes, from the little tiny ones to the ones "I won this at the fair" size HUGE. They tend to come in dirty and take up way to much space. Lastly, they just don't sell. Disney character animals are OK. No beanie babies.
- 6. Why can I not size my clothes with S, M, L, XL, etc?
This gets very confusing when we are trying to organize garments on the racks. If you have the correct size, then it will be put in the right size. Otherwise it becomes a guessing game as to which size category it needs to go in. The exception is Maternity and Juniors who may use S, M, L, XL, etc in sizing.
- 7. What is the purpose of taping my Seller ID inside my clothing?
This is purely for your protection in case of a lost tag. It helps us identify whom the item belongs to, and you will not be out that money. It is also important for every other item that you bring.
- 8. How do I hang pants on a hanger?
Safety pin the waistband of the pants or shorts to the top of the hanger, make it to where they will not slide down. Customers like to look at the knees, the seat, and the whole look, if they are hung this way, they see it all of it without removing them from the hanger. Our favorite way to hang pants that have belt loops is to run the hanger through the back belt loops and then use a safety pin to secure it to the hanger. This really helps the pants not to slide off the hanger.
- 9. How do I hang sets?
Hang the shirt on the hanger then safety pin other piece on the back side of shirt. Don't hang other piece under the shirt.
- 10. Do you take bedding?
Only cribs, no other sizes will be accepted. However, crib sheets, receiving blankets and mattress pads that will fit in a Ziploc bags will be accepted. We still accept children's bedroom furniture. However, Side Drop cribs are all recalled.
- 11. How do I package toys with many parts?
VERY SECURELY!!! The more secure the better. You can put small parts in Ziploc bags, and secure them with clear packing tape, then attach the bag to the main part. (i.e. dollhouse furniture, kitchen supplies etc..)
- 12. How do I package puzzles?
The best way is to wrap Saran wrap around the puzzle, and then secure it with clear packing tape. Just make sure your tag is on the outside and accessible. Puzzles and games that are in boxes need to have every piece. Please be considerate of others. Do not try to sell items that are incomplete. Please seal the box with clear packing tape.
- 13. Do I need to include batteries?
All items that require batteries need to have them so that the buyer knows the item works. Also check the battery compartment to make sure batteries haven’t corroded the inside.
- 14. How do I package books?
Sets of books can be placed in 1 gallon Ziploc type bags. Or you can use plastic cling wrap around the set of books and then use clear packing tape to apply tag. When selling book sets, try to group by reading level. Individual books do not have to be placed in bags. However, please tape the Kid's Market and Mom tag to the outside of the book, if not in zip-loc bag.
- 15. What is considered "Juniors" by Kid's Market and Mom?
Junior sizes are no longer accepted.
- 16. Why can I not use Straight Pins?
They are very dangerous. We need to protect the safety of our shoppers and our volunteers. No clothes pins either. They do not stay on and take up too much room on the rack.
- 17. Are there any limits on what I can bring?
Shoes - yes we ask that you bring your ten best pairs. Shoes can run in sizes from newborn to adult. And you must contribute at least 15 items no more than 300 clothing items. NO GRAB BAGS OF JUNK
- 18. WWhy must tags be printed on Card Stock paper?
Paper tags are not strong enough to withstand all the shifting and moving the clothes go through during a sale. If you use paper tags it is not our responsibility for lost tags.
- 19. What is the purpose of the word "RED" on the tags?
If you do use red tags please realize that they do not print in red just say red. This tells the computer NOT to mark them down on % off days. Remember RED remains it’s original price. One thing that puzzles us is why make a red donate tag? If you are going to donate your items your tags should be black. You have a better chance of getting something for your item. Please write your description on a red tag with red ink.
- 20. What about car seats expiration dates?
Car seat safety is a very serious issue that we are very concerned with. Therefore, if any car seat or stroller/car seat combo is out of date Kid’s Market will dispose of your item immediately without notice to the contributor. You as the seller will not receive your item back and will lose the sale of that item. A carseat expires 6 years from manufacture date. CHECK YOUR DATE!!!
- 21. What about Recalled Items?
Recalls are another safety concern for Kid’s Market and Mom. You as the seller are responsible to find out if your item is under recall. If you bring any item, be it a toy or equipment, that has been recalled it will be disposed of immediately without notice and you will lose the sale of your item and profit.
- 22. What about VHS, DVD's and Video Games?
Must be in their original case. We will no longer accept movies or games out of cases. Do not bring defective tapes or disc. Please try not to bring video games older than 7 years. We will no longer accept VHS tapes. DVD’S up to G-Rated.
- 23. What is meant by a "Vague" tag?
We need very descriptive tags. There are 4 lines to write on. On the size line include size with boy, girls, junior or maternity. Desc. Brand (maker), color and what it is. If multiple piece what pieces are included.
- 24. What sizes should clothes be bundled in for receiving?
